CDC Guidelines

In accordance with updated CDC guidelines, when you have a respiratory virus such as flu, COVID-19, or respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) with symptoms such as fever, chills, fatigue, cough, runny nose, and headache among others:

Stay home and away from others (including people you live with who are not sick) until both are true for at least 24 hours:

  • Your symptoms are getting better overall, and
  • You have not had a fever (and are not using fever-reducing medication).

When you go back to your normal activities, take added precautions over the next 5 days, such as

  • Opening car windows, increased hand hygiene, wearing masks and physical distancing

Keep in mind that you are less likely to be contagious when you are feeling better, but may still be able to spread the virus that made you sick.

Remember there is antiviral treatment available for influenza and Covid-19 for those that may require it.
